Last week PetSmart named IT industry leader Michael Goodwin as its new CIO replacing Sharon Hart who served as interim CIO following Don Beaver’s retirement earlier this year. The change will be effective June 2nd, 2014.
Hallmark has not yet publicly announced who will replace Goodwin as he transitions out of the company.
IT INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Goodwin joins PetSmart after serving most recently as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Technology & Business Enablement at Hallmark. Goodwin has been with Hallmark since 1990 when he began his career as an end-user technology analyst. He has served in a variety of positions for the $4 billion global enterprise leading up to his eventual promotion to CIO and SVP in 2006.
“We’re very excited to welcome Mike to the PetSmart team,” said David Lenhardt, PetSmart’s President and CEO. “He has deep expertise in both traditional and emerging technologies and business capabilities, with a proven ability to create and lead an agile organization that explores and deploys innovative concepts quickly.”
QUICK FACTS ABOUT GOODWIN
- He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.
- He also earned an M.B.A. from the University of Kansas.
- He served as an officer in the U.S. Army
At Hallmark, Goodwin was responsible for the IT operations of the company’s 2,600 stores and expansive online presence. PetSmart operates only 1,333 stores nationwide.
