CBeyond, the Atlanta based telecommunications and information technology company, recently made two big announcements: naming Tim Myers as Chief Information Officer, and the opening of their newest regional data center, located in Las Vegas, Nevada. These IT system changes come in the wake of layoffs in the beginning of this year as part of the company’s ongoing transformation from legacy CLEC to cloud and managed services provider.

IT Sales

CBeyond names new CIO in the midst of opening a new regional data center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Myers joined CBeyond in 2012 where he served as Senior VP, Infrastructure Platforms & Engineering. Prior to joining CBeyond, Myers worked for SunTrust Bank, where led Emerging Technologies teams, and Enterprise Technology Infrastructure. Myers is responsible for leading the design, architecture, engineering and development of CBeyond cloud solutions including cloud PBX, cloud servers and applications.

Myers will replace Carrie Wheeler, and absorb her role as Chief Information Officer.

Strong Engineering Experience

Myers brings with him a broad range of engineering experience, including web hosting, e-commerce, database, hardware and software, and virtualization. Most notably, Myers can be credited as helping distinguish SunTrust as Worldwide leader in server virtualization and server consolidation. This will be highly useful in his new position as he welcomes CBeyond’s new data center, and aids in their ongoing IT systems transformation from legacy CLEC to cloud and managed services provider.

“Businesses, and the IT providers that serve them, desire proximity to the Cloud through a combination of advanced cloud services, high-speed network access and 24/7 support,” said Myers. “Our new Las Vegas data center location offers state-of-the-art cloud computing and storage, and strong backbone network presence, in a secure, stable environment that is optimal for serving the Western Region.”
