The announcement comes alongside recent news of a management overhaul for the Fortune 500 Company, indicating a time of change and turbulence. Jordan was chosen for her new role based on her strong experience with multi-platform collaboration, women’s leadership initiatives, and mobile channels. She also comes highly praised for her experience with Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies, which Symantec will look to incorporate in the future.
“I am thrilled to help advance Symantec’s 4.0 strategy and leverage my experience integrating systems to bolster best-in-class information infrastructure,” said Jordan. “My goal is to drive increased productivity, better efficiency and strategic business partnerships, through simple and intuitive experiences for our global workforce.”
Replacing Marty Hodgett, Jordan will join Symantec in her new role on February 18th, where she will report to Stephen Gillett, Chief Operating Officer.
“Sheila is a dynamic leader with the experience to build and lead the Symantec IT strategy,” said Gillett. “She will drive the strategy forward by ensuring we have the right talent, staying ahead of technology trends and maximizing the value we get out of our technology investments.”
Most recently Jordan served as Senior Vice President of Communication & Collaboration at Cisco, where she has worked for the last nine years. Prior to that, her roles include Chief Information Officer at Grand Circle Corporation and Senior Vice President at Walt Disney World. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from the University of Central Florida, and her MBA from Florida University of Technology. In 2011, she was named One to Watch by CIO Magazine.
